Faculty positions

The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a W2/W3 Professorship for Multimodal Imaging in Clinical Research at the Department of Neuroradiology, Institute of Radiology, to be filled by the earliest possible starting date. The position will be either fixed-term (six years) or permanent if certain prerequisites are met. A W2 or W3 position may be offered depending on the applicant’s qualifications.

The successful candidate is expected to represent the field adequately in teaching and research. We are looking for a candidate who will strengthen the research focus of the Department of Neuroradiology in multimodal MR imaging or multimodal flat-panel detector or CT imaging. This includes independent research in imaging methodology, translational research and implementation of innovative imaging concepts. The professor will have full access to the comprehensive equipment of the University Hospital Erlangen with several clinical MRI systems (including new 7T Magnetom Terra), various CT and flat-panel detector systems. Collaboration in the research networks of the Faculty of Medicine (Collaborative Research Centres, Research Training Groups, Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Research, Medical Valley, Graduate School in Advanced Optical Technologies (SAOT) and research programmes at University Hospital Erlangen (for example the Comprehensive Cancer Center). The degree programmes Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, Medical Process Management and Logopaedics are taught at the Faculty of Medicine.

Prerequisites for the position are a university degree in the natural sciences, engineering or medicine, university level teaching experience, a doctoral degree, and additional academic qualifications. These should be in the form of a Habilitation (post-doctoral thesis) or equivalent academic publications. The necessary qualifications may also have been acquired in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (e.g. W1 Professor or Assistant Professor).
