Internal funding programs

Discover the Faculty’s internal funding programs for post-docs!

ELAN funds junior researchers (postdocs, max. 38 years of age) for a duration 12 months (personnel and other costs). Maximum funding is 50,000 EUR. Basic scientists can only apply if partnering with clinical partners.

Research report ELAN Fonds

IZKF supports young researchers (max. 35 years) who have never submitted an application to an external funding agency. Awardees receive up to 15,000 EUR for a duration of up to 30 months (extension of up to 6 months is possible) to fund equipment and material costs as well as costs for technical staff or Ph.D. students.

Clinician scientists can apply for protected research time via rotation positions.

Scientists of all ages can apply for project funding within IZKF. Projects should be related to the main research areas of the Faculty. Projects typically last up to 30 months (a 6 months extension is possible). The award includes one Ph.D. position, one position for technical staff and 20,000 EUR for materials and equipment cost per year. In addition, awardees gain access to other specialized funding programs of IZKF.

Johannes and Frieda Marohn Foundation provides about 30,000 EUR per year for new projects, including topics and persons not eligible under ELAN or IZKF. Applications can be submitted anytime.

Besides these central funding instruments and the larger funding bodies, there are several institutions closely affiliated with the Faculty which provide research funding. These include associations related to the individual departments or institutes. Furthermore, there are donations to the Faculty.

External funding agencies include German Research Foundation (DFG), Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), the European Union and various foundations.
